Teacher Bios
Susan
C. Key: Director/3-6 Teacher (pictured right)
Mrs. Key is a graduate of Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia.
She was a 3-6 Montessori classroom assistant for two years at Round
Hill Montessori in Roanoke. Upon completion of her AMS credential
from the North Carolina Center for Montessori Teacher Education,
Mrs. Key was a lead teacher of a 3-6 class at Roanoke Montessori
School for one year and has been teaching 3-6 year
olds at New Vista Montessori since its opening in the fall of 2001.
In 2003, Mrs. Key became the Director of Education at New Vista
along with teaching half-days.
Carolyn
Wilson: 3-6 Teacher (right)
Mrs. Wilson received her B.S. in Education from Concord University,
magna cum laude. She attended CVCC, UVA, and Roanoke College for
Va. certification to teach Early Primary. In 2000 she received her
American Montessori Society credential in Early Childhood Education.
Mrs. Wilson trained with the North Carolina Center for Montessori
Teacher Education, and completed her credential with Mrs. Key. She
has 20+ years of experience working with young children in public
and private schools.
Sarah
Baldwin: 3-6 Teacher (right)
Ms. Baldwin earned a B.S. in Child and Family Studies from Berea
College. She trained with the North Carolina Center for Montessori
Teacher Education and earned her American Montessori credential
in 2005. She has been a lead teacher at Salem Montessori School,
a teacher's aide at Round Hill Montessori, a nanny, and director
of before and after school programs at YMCA Magic Place. Sarah has
a great love for horticulture and has experience gardening with
children. She is also trained in music and has been our own music
teacher at New Vista since January of 2008.
Jennifer
Deeds: 3-6 Teacher (right)
Ms. Deeds has five years experience with Montessori and is currently
pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Development. She has also been
a private nanny and provided childcare in her own home. She is trained
in CPR and First Aid and has had many hours of Montessori training.
Jenny will soon be pursuing her Montessori Early Childhood (ages
3-6) credential.
