Carolyn Wilson
Mrs. Wilson received her B.S. in Education from Concord University, magna cum laude. She attended CVCC, UVA, and Roanoke College for Va. certification to teach Early Primary. In 2000 she received her American Montessori Society credential in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Wilson trained with the North Carolina Center for Montessori Teacher Education. She has 20+ years of experience working with young children in public and private schools.
Sarah Baldwin
Ms. Baldwin earned a B.S. in Child and Family Studies from Berea College. She trained with the North Carolina Center for Montessori Teacher Education and earned her American Montessori credential in 2005. She has been a lead teacher at Salem Montessori School, a teacher's aide at Round Hill Montessori, a nanny, and director of before and after school programs at YMCA Magic Place. Sarah has a great love for horticulture and shows off her "green thumb" every year with the school's summer garden she cultivates with our students. She is also trained in music and has been our own music teacher at New Vista since January of 2008. She has been responsible for many "bring the house down" performances with our students, and we look forward to many more!
Jennifer Deeds
Mrs. Deeds has been a lead Montessori teacher since 2005 and was an aide in a Montessori classroom for 4 years before that; she is trained in Early Childhood Development. She has also been a private nanny and provided childcare in her own home. Jenny recently completed her Montessori Early Childhood (ages 3-6) credential earning straight A's in all of her classes! Congratulations, Mrs. Deeds; we are so proud of you!
Melissa Dragoo
Mrs. Dragoo was born and raised in Clarinda, Iowa. She and her family have lived in Virginia since 2000. She is the proud mother of three girls; one is a former NVMS student and one is currently enrolled. After working in the dentistry field for eight years, she realized that her true calling is caring for and teaching children. She has too many years of experience in babysitting to count, and she has been a nanny for several years to families with children aged newborn to 15 years old. For several years, New Vista was fortunate enough to have her as our beloved art and substitute teacher. This is her second year as lead teacher in our very successful, "foundation class" for 2-3 year olds. As in "Field of Dreams," the movie filmed in her home state, she has "helped us build it, and they will come" to her new class!! She has a lot of exciting things planned for this school year!
